Before we start talking about your challenges and possible solutions. I love to get a bit more background about your business, business processes and in more particular your IT and data landscape. During our talk we draw a draft solution and discuss what needs to be done.
The level of technical details of this solution depends on the complexity of the issues. Adding a new data source into your current business intelligence environment or developing a PowerBI dashboard are quite concrete. A solution to deliver a new data platform is a more complex challenge. Of course we will talk about my role, how to work together and your expectations.
Fulfilment of different roles with more than 15 years IT experience
I have experience as a data warehouse architect, technical project lead and lead developer.
The MSBI stack (SSIS, SSRS and SSAS), Excel, PowerBI and PowerPivot has less secrets for me.
I love to use tools e.g. BIML and Powershell scripts to automate your Data Plaform. SQL Server, SQL and T-SQL are an open book.
Besides the above mentioned stack I have also experience with other languages like C# and PowerShell.
As a data modeller I have a solid understanding of dimensional modelling (Kimball), 3NF, data vault,
logical and conceptual modelling techniques.
A brief summary
Developed a meta data driven process to generate SSIS packages and tables for a data vault data model of two new source systems. Also amended
SSAS cubes to combine the data of the legacy and new source systems as well.
Designed and developed a data platform to support data scientists with their analysis work. Loading of the data required a meta data driven data pipeline
due to a very flexible source system and various flat files with an unknown structure beforehand.
Designed a new data warehouse and coached the development team during the development phase. Also developed a powershell module to retrieve open data
and a meta data driven process the generate tables and SSIS packages (ETL pipelines).
